The Rebirth of coruscant

The ground shook violently beneath his feet the only things allowing him to remain standing was the weight of his armor, and the quick reactions which had been enhanced by the stimulus package he had injected nigh on an hour ago. Several members of his squad fell on their backsides or were slammed into walls. For once Cody appreciated the addiction to stimulus packs which he had developed during his early years as a trooper for the empire, all of those shots had to give him some sort of edge, even if it was slowly corroding his insides, along with all of the ales and death sticks. the planet stopped shaking, allowing some time for his troops to recover. He relaxed his form and slipped his blaster onto the magnetic plate on his back, it making a loud clunking sound as it locked into place.

Placing a finger to the com-switch on his helmet he spoke authoritatively, his voice coarse and harsh which some might have mistaken for rudeness or impoliteness ''Watcher, this is Commander Cody pike of the Twenty seventh ground unit, we are on our way to your position. Our progress has been slowed by groups of Vong warriors and these planetary shakes.. what's going on, it feels like the planet is coming apart?'' The reply was merely the disappointing sound of static. Cody Gave a sigh, it had been several hours since he had heard from the young watcher now... Fearing the worst he opened his com channel to his unit. ''C'mon lads time to get moving we need to get to that temple''

The troopers begrudgingly got to their feet, some groaning while in the rear one trooper was supported by another, his leg in a splint ''Keep Private Zimmerman in the back, if we come under fire get behind cover and stay there.'' The trooper holding up the wounded man nodded ''Yes sir'' he replied hastily. The wounded man simply slumped his head, perhaps ashamed of being in the position he was in.

an hour later, and the stench of the sewers were beginning to nauseate the hardened troopers, they had been forced to rest several times due to the wounded trooper, swapping the one that supported him several times. ''Stop lads.. time for a break... get some oxygen'' The troopers took a deep breath and slumped once again to the sides of the circular sewers where it was dry and free of the mess and fecal matter that infested them. Cody decided to scout ahead towards the end of the tunnel they had been in, he could see what seemed like light at the end of the tunnel. Progressing carefully with his back to the wall, he began to hear murmired voices... He couldn't quite hear what they were saying...

Inching closer, he recognized the voices as speaking basic... ''Damn imperials.. they killed scotty..'' One voice said. ''We will have to make them pay.. what right do they have to be on coruscant'' Another replied... Cody drew his weapon a rifle that fired modified explosive slugs and an armor piercing tip. As he stepped closer to the corner, preparing to take out the Alliance troopers, a smaller younger voice spoke out. ''I just want to go home... and get away from this all..'' A third trooper said. This in itself surprised cody, so much so that he did not realize that footsteps were patting towards him up the corridor. ''Look an imperial!'' As cody readied his weapon to fire, he felt something large and warm impact his chest... Slowly the heat began to spread and he could feel the energy draining from his body... as a last act of defiance he raised his gun one handed and sent a slug into the brain of the nearest man.

The alliance troopers replied with prejudice and Cody was spun off his feet by the impact of several more blasts. His back was sent crashing into the wall and he slumped down unable to move .. unable to feel, was this what dying felt like. He could hear his squad exclaim as he fell and take up arms, but they had been caught unaware, and within moments the combat stopped. Cody thought of his wife, his eyes beginning to close on their own. He thought he saw lumps of a green substance falling from the ceiling, before he closed his eyes. And drifted into what felt like it would be an endless sleep.


Almost moments later Cody felt pain sear through his body, and then.. nothing.. Was he dead, he should be? For the most part it had been relatively painless, he dared not open his eyes, but then, what would he see beyond the veil of death. Several grunts came from down the hallway and along with these sounds he noticed another unfamiliar noise. ''Akkkekakakaeiiii'' Came the squeaky voice of several things... Too curious to keep is eyes closed he opened them, and was greeted by a slobbery lick to the face by a strange red creature.



After quickly shooing the creature which was no bigger than his hand he looked down at where the blasters had struck him.. nothing? he was alive? The marks where he had been hit were indented into his armor, clearly he should be dead? A state of euphoria washed over him as he looked at the little red ball before he put out his hand and patted it on the head. The creature gave a little moan and closed its eyes before hopping onto codys shoulder.. ''Strange little thing arent you.

After a few moments  had passed a realization sunk into him, and he looked back down the tunnel at the location his squad had likely died, they were all standing now, these creatures also on their shoulders. ''Strange things arent they...'' one of the troopers said into the comm channel. ''It seems like we owe them our lives though... so im going to call them friends..'' another smaller trooper replied. This was all a little too much for Cody who had just gotten to his  feet swaying so heavily on the spot that he had to lean against the wall for support. ''Lets get out of here'' Cody stated, his voice was no longer hoarse.. what was going on?



After an hour or so walking through the sewers they arrived at the exit, what met their eyes was something astounding, and out of place... ''A forest.. is this the right planet?'' Cody said... A murmur rising from the troopers behind him. The great spire of the jedi temple and many of coruscants larger buildings stuck out of the earth at odd angles. ''It must be...  but how...?'' The imperial troops stood in wonder for a moment before footsteps were heard behind them. Raising their weapons they aimed at the passageway... It was the alliance troopers, and this time, it was their ambush.
