''The turbolazers are having no effect, they've changed their exo-skeleton's resonance again!'' Lieutenant commander Nova yelled across the bridge, her blonde hair normally neatly tied back hair strewn across her face and draped down over her shoulders. Stained dark with blood, her face showed scars and signs of aging though when she had last been in this galaxy she was barely twenty one. That had been not a year ago. The Eclipse class star destroyer shook violently as the maw of the beast opened in the epicenter of the wormhole. As it reared its head green liquid shot out of its mouth as venom would from a pythons venom glands. The Retaliations hull groaned as it was struck by this violent discharge of liquid and several bridge consoles exploded, one unlucky member of the remaining skeleton crew was sent flying across the room by the force of it and as he hit the floor he lay still. No one bothered to check his pulse.

A Hoarse voice bellowed from the viewing screen at the front of the bridge ''We have no choice'' As the man said this he turned to look at what remained of the crew. Sirius's time in the other dimension had changed him, he was unable to explain the horrors of what lied beyond the portals. Those who had seen what lay behind the wormholes dared not speak of it for fear of being asked to relive any part of those memories. His once fairly short brown hair had been stained black with clotted blood and grown until it had spread to the mid point of his back. His face tired and pale as though he had not slept in a hundred years. In place of his jedi robes he wore tightly bound scaled metal armor, a leather cloak rimmed with fur and leather metal plated gauntlets. Alongside a broken lightsaber hilt was a single black sword scabbarded at his side. The explosion had set part of the bridge on fire yet no one moved as the beast bellowed again, the pitch something like someone scraping their nails down a chalkboard but it was now all too common to the crew. Sirius kicked some metal onto the plasma blaze that had begun to melt through the interior of the ship.

''If this is to end in fire... We shall all burn together'' He gazed at the resolute faces of his crew before nodding at nova ''Set the device off as we enter.'' He turned to the rest of the crew and smiled slightly ''It has been my honor serving with you all'' The crew turned and resolutely went about the process of setting the ship on a collision course.

Although lazer fire was still blazing all around them from the remotely controlled armada hovering in space in a lower orbit none on the Retaliation seemed to hear any of it, the silence was deathly as the vessel cannoned through space towards the Vessel too large even for the gargantuan wormhole

As the Retaliation smashed headlong into the mouth of the beast a loud explosion echoed from the midpoint of the vessel. As the explosive device detonates it causes a chain reaction through the power conduits and one by one reactor after reactor explodes inside the mouth of the vong ship splattering its entrails against the sides of the vortex.

A Large burst of flame spews through the bridge doors as the glass windows at the front of the bridge shatter from the impact against the creatures corpse. The force sends all of the bridge crew flying as the holo vid cuts to static.

Snow fell upon the mountain as two lone figures stood upon ramparts above a great door of bronze. The night sky shone red as debris and scorched flesh fell from the sky. The roar of great fire drakes shook the very ground they stood upon yet the two figures stood resolute and grim.

"They will come tonight illuvitar and in greater numbers than before." The shorter of the two figures said his words echoed with the knowledge and wisdom of many years a great white beard poked out from beneath his hood, so long was this beard that it had to be tucked into his belt.
"They will not break through the walls of this kingdom with so few old friend" the taller figure said his voice was deep and resonated with power and yet at the same time it seemed to calm the older man who let out a deep sigh at these words.

"Aye lad but they will break through eventually" the old man spoke calmly after a few moments had passed "this fire scorched sky is a bad omen and it has roused the dragons"

"There is little we may do about that" the younger man said walking along the ramparts and patting the helmet of a dozing guard "perhaps the dragons will themselves buy us time. "Illuvitar.... What is that?" The older man said quickly pointing at a gigantic ball of flame that was dropping from the sky. The you get man said.nothing but braced himself upon the rampart walls. As the object smashed into the ground, earth and debris flew up and once again the ground was made to shake as though the gods themselves were trying to tear the planet in two.

Illuvitar shook dirt from his mane of black hair and his well kept beard "I do not know but it was not like the salamanders. We should send scouts out immediately...."
