Dorin gas is a gas found only in the atmosphere of Dorin. It is essential for the lives of Kel Dor in the same way that oxygen is essential for the lives of the majority of species in the galaxy. Without it, Kel Dor become blind and die. Antiox masks provide Dorin gas to Kel Dor traveling off-world.
Dorin's atmosphere contains very little oxygen, and barely supports life, although some flora do exist on the planet. This atmosphere mix affected the evolution of the Kel Dor, requiring them to wear antiox breath masks to filter out oxygen while off-world. Likewise, many non-Kel Dors visiting Dorin have to wear breath masks of their own for the gases they required. Humans, however, could survive at least a short time in the atmosphere without suffering any ill effects. This is therefore true for other organisms that breathe similar gaseous mixtures as Humans.
