Cant play on our server

Hi lads

Recently I bought myself netbook and I was hoping to play JKA on it. Hardware is capable of running JKA without any problems, but as soon as I connect to our server(Sometimes it takes few secs) I get this error "sound/null has lenght 0" or JKA stops responding.
I already checked two times that I have latest video drivers installed and map is dwnled corecly.

Thing is, JKA is an old game.
Buy a new pc means new hardware which isnt really the problem but its more the software.

If you run Windows 8, it might give issues.
8 isnt running smooth sofar i heard so... only thing which you can try to do is runnning JKA in a different compatibility.

Re-install JKA or redownload it to be sure there are no corrupt files or anything.

Well... I have Windows 8 and JKA works just fine xD.

So...it seems like that Win8 arent capable of installing JKA corectly and probably there were missing some libraries working with sound causing JKA to stop responding on some maps. So I just copied JKA from desktop to my netbook and everything works fine.

It is actually always a good idea to put older games on a memory stick, because that way you wont have to worry about faulty installation or corrupt files On another note, certain files can be tweaked in .txt to be made compatible as each OP reads the file differently

Luckily enough JKA doesn't really make local computer folders (everything is in the JKA folder) so you can simply copy it to a memory stick, boot up the CD and play. Or, if you have openJK, you can skip the CD part and just boot it up (however, it creates a folder in Local Files/My Games/OpenJK so if you save anything you simply have to move it to your memory stick JKA folder.
